  6.         Half-Shell is a minimal replacement shell for Microsoft Windows
  7.           3.0's Program Manager.  Its main design  goal is to free up
  8.                  memory for other applications and, above all,
  9.                            make Windows load faster!

  12. REQUIREMENTS
  13.  
  14.         To use Half-Shell, you will need a PC-compatible system with an
  15.         80286 or higher processor, running Microsoft Windows 3.0 or later
  16.         in Standard or 386-Enhanced mode.  Use of a mouse is optional.

  20.         Complete, ready-to-print documentation (7 pages) for Half-Shell
  21.         is provided in HALFSHEL.WRI (in Windows 3.0 Write format).

  35. QUICK START
  36.  
  37.     To install Half-Shell on your system:
  38.  
  39.     1. If you received Half-Shell on a disk or unpacked it into a
  40.            directory other than your main Windows directory (usually
  41.            C:\WINDOWS), type INSTALL followed by the name of the
  42.            main Windows directory.  For example:
  43.  
  44.                             INSTALL C:\WINDOWS
  45.  
  46.            INSTALL copys the files HALFSHEL.EXE, HALFSHEL.INI,
  47.        HALFCON.EXE, and SWAPSHEL.EXE to your Windows directory.
  48.      ===>  If you have a previous version of Half-Shell installed on
  49.            your system, INSTALL will replace the old version, without
  50.            overwriting your launch-list settings.
  51.         2. Type SWAPSHEL at the DOS command prompt to make Half-Shell
  52.            your current Windows shell.
  53.         3. Read the documentation provided in HALFSHEL.WRI.

  55. NEW TO VERSION 1.1

  57.     Half-Shell 1.1 provides two major enhancements over the 1.0 release:
  58.  
  59.         + A new configuration program that eliminates the need to
  60.           manually edit HALFSHEL.INI!
  61.         + Optional recognition of the "load=" and "run=" settings
  62.           in WIN.INI
  63.
